Fitt: Committee Built A Quality Field Of 64
The most important job of the Division I Baseball Committee on Selection Monday is to get the right 64 teams in the field. The rest of it — awarding national seeds and hosts, coming up with equitable pairings, seeding teams appropriately within a regional — is secondary.
And this year, the committee aced the most important test, and scored well on the other parts too. The committee took 63 of the 64 teams we selected to make regionals in our final projection Sunday night, and the 64th — Oregon — was our first team out. During our deliberations[…]
