Draft Buzz: Brakeman, Others Making Noise

A player’s draft stock is often very fluid, and even very late in the process, new names seem to emerge on a weekly basis leading up to the big day in June. Each week leading up to draft day, we’ll take an up-close look at some of the players the scouting community is buzzing about, players that have seen their stock take a hit, or names that top-ranking scouts are scrambling to get a look at as the clock winds down.

Here’s the latest batch of players making waves in recent days on the scouting trail:

– Stanford logoBoth the scouting industry and Stanford have to be pleased to see a healthy Marc Brakeman back on the hill. When he’s at the top of his game, few pitchers in the nation are as dynamic and as capable of missing as many bats. But, for a big chunk of this spring, there was concern over the health of Brakeman’s arm. In his most recent outing against UCLA, however, he was able to prove to scouts in attendance that his stuff had, for the most part, fully returned.
