Frisco Classic: Day 1 BreakdownAnalysis
FRISCO, Texas – It was pitching that ruled the proceedings on day one of the Frisco Classic Presented by Baylor Scott & White Sports Therapy and Research at the STAR, as we saw a combined four runs scored over two games on Friday evening. Arizona came away with a shutout of Arkansas behind a brilliant pitching performance from senior JC Cloney in game one, and Oklahoma State similarly followed a strong senior performance from righthander Tyler Buffett on their way to a 1-0 win.
Cloney Carves Up Razorbacks
It wasn’t overpowering and it was the kind of effort that sort of sneaks up on when you looked up at the scoreboard late in the game, but that is part of what makes JC Cloney such an outstanding leader of the Arizona pitching staff. Cruising to 7.2 innings of shutout baseball, Cloney quieted a lineup of quality young Arkansas bats and did it by seeming to slowly figure out his approach over the first few frames.
