On The Mark: When RPI & Polls Disagree
AnalysisWe get something odd each season. Last year we had the RPI anomalies due to the lack of non-conference play. In 2018 and 2019, the SEC had four of the eight national seeds. In 2014, we had an RPI top 10 team (Houston), not host. We’ve had the occasional RPI weirdness, where a team’s RPI ranking didn’t match its place in the national picture.
But we’ve never had that in abundance like we might this season. A quick check of the D1baseball.com Top 25 displays some highly ranked teams with not-so-high RPI ranks. Arkansas, UCLA, and Texas Tech[…]
