The Postseason Primer: May 9Analysis
We’re nearing yet another Selection Monday, and though our latest projections and analysis will be out tomorrow, along with Aaron Fitt’s weekly Stock Report, it’s time to take a look at how last week’s national seeds affected their stock over the past week, while also looking at which potential bubble teams, at-large hopefuls and host hopefuls helped or hurt their stock.
What’s the scoop on the postseason picture at the moment? Come find out …
1. Florida (40-8, 16-7 SEC)
National seed stock: ↔
Results: The Gators didn’t do anything to change their status from last week. UF made easy work of Bethune-Cookman during midweek action before hitting the road and taking two of three from Tennessee and steamrolling the Volunteers in the series finale.
Strength of schedule: Overall: 5, Non-conference 14
Records vs. RPI: Top 25: 10-4, Top 50: 14-7, Top 100: 26-8
The skinny: Just as was the case last week, the Gators did absolutely nothing to keep them out of the top spot from a national seed perspective. They won a road series in the SEC and are now an incredible 26-8 against RPI Top 100 teams, while also possessing a cornucopia of other strong metrics, including a very solid 12-5 mark on the road, along with a 26-3 home record and 24-1 non-conference record. What a season it has been for the Gators.
