AnalysisARLINGTON, Texas — Baseball players are always learning on the fly, and no one knows that more than Ole Miss second-year freshman righthanded pitcher Derek Diamond.
After tallying a 3.48 ERA in 20.2 innings of work, along with 15 strikeouts and four walks as a freshman for the Rebels last spring, the highly touted freshman wasn’t ready for his year on the mound to end when the college baseball season was shuttered.
So, he tried his hand at the Northwoods League.
