San Diego State Three-Peats in MWC

RENO, Nev. — Two weeks before the Mountain West Conference tournament was to begin, San Diego State head coach Mark Martinez called junior catcher Seby Zavala into his office. Though he led the team in homers and RBIs, Zavala was struggling. He had a .254 average and wasn’t consistently producing. Even with the home runs, Zavala was third on the team in slugging.
