West Notebook: Kaczmarek’s Long Journey

On Tuesday, University of San Diego righthander Taylor Kaczmarek toed the rubber against crosstown rival San Diego State, making his first career start for the Toreros. He had pitched less than 20 career innings for the Toreros, but he went out and dominated a solid Aztecs lineup. Kaczmarek took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and allowed just one hit in six innings and struck out three batters.
