HOUSTON — The nation got a glimpse at why LSU coach Jay Johnson was so high on newcomer lefthanded pitcher Gage Jump after fall workouts.

Coming off an injury that sidelined him at UCLA all last season, the introduction to Gage Jump has been a slow process this spring. Jump threw just 11 pitches in his first outing of the year against VMI and was up to 96 mph with his fastball in that performance.
