Miami Wins ACC Opener But Bond Between Avent & Dimare Persists
At The BallparkCORAL GABLES, Fla. — NC State coach Elliott Avent loves Miami.
But Miami – at least the Hurricanes baseball team – didn’t return the affection on Friday night.
The host Hurricanes (9-5, 1-0 ACC) knocked off the previously unbeaten Wolfpack, 9-8, in an epic series-opening battle.
NC State, ranked 19th in the nation, fell behind 8-0 in the second inning. The Wolfpack then clawed back to tie the score with runs in four straight frames, but Miami won it on Ian Farrow’s tie-breaking homer in the seventh inning.
The Wolfpack are now 13-1, 0-1.
