Fitt: Freshmen Help TCU Reinvent Itself

At The Ballpark

STILLWATER, Okla. — Back in the fall, we wrote about the dawn of a new era for TCU baseball. Gone were so many of the stalwarts that formed the backbone of two Omaha teams in the last three years — most notably Preston Morrison, Trey Teakell, Riley Ferrell, Cody Jones, Derek Odell and Keaton Jones. If the Frogs were going to compete at a high level again in 2016, they were going to need freshmen and junior-college transfers to succeed right away.

And that’s exactly what has happened. Ten weeks into the season, TCU is sitting pretty at No. 9 in the D1Baseball Top 25 and 28-9 overall. There hasn’t been any dropoff in the winning department — but how TCU wins is completely different.
