Florida's win over Georgia gives the Gators an SEC championship.

Gators Down Dogs, Lock Up SEC Title

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — If there is one word you relate with Florida Gators baseball, it is “champions.”

Today, the Gators added another title belt to their growing trophy case, beating Georgia in fast fashion, 9-3, and staking claim to a tie for their second straight SEC championship in a row. This marked the third time in program history that the Gators had won back-to-back conference titles; 1980-1981, 2010-2011 and now 2017-2018.

With the win, Florida has also yet to drop a weekend series on the entire year and need just one more win, or one more Arkansas loss, to claim the SEC regular season title outright. (I’m a betting man, so I’m pretty sure that is going to happen. In fact, I’d go to Vegas and place a bet down on the Gators if I could.)

But the even scarier prospect? This Gators team is without a doubt, better than the National Champions from a year ago. But something tells me that you probably already knew that.

Jonathan India added this home run swing to his slugging total, giving the Gators an insurmountable lead.

Early on it looked like a continuation of Friday night’s back and forth battle as the Bulldogs jumped out early to a 1-0 lead. But in the middle innings the Gators went gonzo on the Dogs, bombing four home runs out of their band box yard and made this one a no-doubter.
