Gonzalez Busts Out In Ole Miss’ SEC Opener

AUBURN, Ala. — Jacob Gonzalez wasted no time firing the opening salvo of the 2022 SEC baseball season.

Gonzalez ambushed Mason Barnett’s second pitch of Thursday night’s game — a 93 mph fastball over the heart of the plate — and launched it over the right-field wall for a solo homer. But he wasn’t done, and neither was top-ranked Ole Miss, which rolled to a 13-6 victory at Auburn in the first game of the SEC season, one night before the rest of the league opens play.
