Ole Miss Grinds Out Big Win Over Auburn, Burns

At The Ballpark

AUBURN, Ala. — Ole Miss knew it was behind the eight-ball. On Thursday night, the Rebels had a 4-3 lead after five innings at Auburn, but they couldn’t hold the lead and wound up losing 7-4. So they entered Friday down in the series and staring at a daunting matchup with first-team preseason All-American Tanner Burns.

But Ole Miss rose to the challenge, showing off an excellent offensive approach against Burns in a big series-leveling 5-3 win.

“I thought it was one of those — I don’t ever talk about ‘must-wins’, here we are with so many games left – but one of those games where, you know, we needed it. After last night when we had the lead and we blew it in the middle to deep in the game,” Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco said.
