Western Kentucky went on a five-game winning streak before dropping a midweek bout. Senior righthanded pitcher Sean Bergeron was a massive part of that streak, and for that, is this week’s D1Baseball/Rapsodo National Player of the Week.
Bergeron, a 6-foot-2, 225-pounder, put together one of the better starts in Division I Baseball so far this spring in a dominant win over Hartford. In that start, he threw 103 pitches in a complete game shutout, while also striking out 16 and not walking a single batter. Bergeron allowed just three hits in the contest.
For the season, the talented righty now has a 2.84 ERA in 19 innings of work, along with 24 strikeouts and just one walk. Command is his forte, as hitters are batting just .260 against him.
Congratulations to Bergeron on a monster performance last week.
