MIAMI — Fascinating FIU freshmen are everywhere this fall.

For example:

• Baseball is the family business, but whenever Dante Girardi’s playing days are over, he has a different career in mind: Fashion.

To borrow a line from ZZ Top, Girardi said he grew up admiring some of baseball’s “sharp dressed men” such as Starlin Castro and Aroldis Chapman. Those players, who competed for Girardi’s father, former New York Yankees and current Philadelphia Phillies manager Joe Girardi, clearly had an impact on Dante.
