Fall ReportHATTIESBURG, Miss. — Over the last half-decade, Southern Miss has firmly established itself as Conference USA’s standard bearer, ripping that flag from Rice’s talons and sprinting away with it. The Golden Eagles have been to four straight regionals, winning the regular-season title outright in 2017 and 2018 and winning the conference tournament in 2016, ’18 and ’19. Despite losing some key cogs from that 2019 regional finalist club, USM looked like the team to beat again in 2020, jumping out to a solid start before the season was canceled.
