Ole Miss ascended to No. 1 in the D1Baseball Top 25 following a 3-0 weekend against Big 12 powers, capping a tumultuous opening weekend in college baseball.
Why does it seem none of the collegiate outlets like Tennessee? They get absolutely no love at all!!!!
How is it that the national runner up last season, Michigan is not in the top 25?
Chris - no love? They are #18. Not sure what you were expecting. They are 3-0, but haven't played a ranked team yet and they didn't exactly blow Georgia Southern out of the water. Who should they be ranked above?
Due to COVID, Michigan has suspended all athletics for 2 weeks. Their first game is on 3/5 and they have a 44-game conference only schedule. Should we hold a top-ten spot for them when they've been hit by the virus and playing a reduced schedule, when other teams are playing well?
Georgia Southern swept Georgia last year when they where ranked 3rd and returned everyone! GS is going to surprise alot of people this year!
Maybe they shouldnt fill their entire non conference schedule with cupcake games 🤷🏼
How exactly is West Virginia still ranked... 2-2 vs Georgia State (including a 20-4 whipping) 🤔. No disrespect to Georgia State... c’mon
Mississippi vaults 😅. You vault who you wanna vault, we see what you do, you are expert poll vaulters vaulting for dollars. Experts shmexperts, media hack$ is more accurate a description of you guys.
This list isn't about merit, it never is. The higher a set of certain teams gets ranked, the more RPI credit they get for cashing in at post season selection time.
They "vaulted" because just about everyone in front of them either faltered or played cupcakes. Nothing was handed to Ole Miss. Ole Miss and Arkansas both went 3-0 and beat the #3, #9 and #10 ranked teams in the nation - and their pitching looked better than expected. You beat 3 top-10 teams in any sport and you are going to move up! The previous top 3 teams lost their series, including poor #3 Texas Tech (0-3). Louisville went 3-0, but played....wait for it - "Bellarmine". Come on dude, it's not hard to figure out.
Same argument, every year. So how do you propose they determine merit differently than they do now??? You obviously have a team that you think should be ranked and isn't -- who is it and why do you think they have more merit than the teams that are ranked?
What did Clemson do to impress the rankers? Just beating Cincinnati, a .500 team at best isn't going to cut it.
I think "Hoxie" should be "Hoaxie." Probably trolling. Hard to believe anybody is that clueless.
When DVH hangs up his spikes, I would love to see Vitello take over. That guy can flat coach and recruit.
I disagree without context. That's about the same as saying a team that goes 3-0 should be ranked. You people that are only obsessed with record, smh....
What did they do to not be ranked to start the season? Ranked last year...
Apparently they are #25 in one poll. Be happy with that - if they keep winning they will be noticed. Don't they play South Carolina soon? If they win, they'll be recognized.
Dayton - another .500 team. A ranked team is supposed to beat them 9 times out of 10. 1 spot sounds about right.
Last I checked RPI has nothing do with a team's ranking on a random website. BUT I COULD BE WRONG.
How far is Oregon State from getting back into National conversation again?
Shhhhhh, lets just hope they continue to be overlooked & stay out of the conversation, like they were in 05, 06, 07, 13, & 17. Those years ended up turning out pretty well. FYI, they are now 5-1 & have outscored their opponents 48-11 so far.
Beaverton Mike...
WE are about 6 games into the season. Rankings are meaningless. Last week's top 25 has already changed a bunch. In 4 weeks it will change much more. Have a beer and relax.
