LSU’s pitching staff in spotlight more than ever with season on the line

OMAHA — The LSU pitching staff is once again in the spotlight with its season on the line — this time for the right reasons.

Going against one of the nation’s premier offensive lineups Monday night in Wake Forest, LSU desperately needed a strong start from junior righthanded pitcher Ty Floyd. Wake had a quiet offensive game in its opening game against Stanford, so conventional wisdom suggested that it would breakout against an LSU pitching staff that has been somewhat of a roller coaster at times this season outside of ace righty Paul Skenes.
