ColumnsOXFORD, Miss. — Heading into the season and throughout much of the spring, the common narrative surrounding Vanderbilt and Ole Miss was that their respective weekend rotation duos — Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter for the Commodores, Gunnar Hoglund and Doug Nikhazy for the Rebels — would make them very dangerous in June. Both tandems really lived up to the hype over the first three-quarters of the regular season, and the Rocker-Leiter one-two punch remains the most formidable in college baseball as the postseason approaches, while Nikhazy marches on alone now that Hoglund is out with Tommy John surgery.
