Last year, Michigan’s two Big Ten teams — Michigan and Michigan State — went into the season’s final weeks nipping at the heels of the conference’s contenders. Both arrived at the conference tournament in Minneapolis needing to do some serious damage to extend their seasons, and while the Spartans sandwiched a thrilling comeback win over Nebraska between losses to Mike Shawaryn’s Maryland and the Illinois juggernaut, the Wolverines ran the table and played their way into the postseason.
