Columns

Aw bummer. We’ve already reached the point of the 2018 campaign where there are some teams in Division I that have already packed up their bats, gloves and spikes and called it a year. What Happened: Lost two of three to Harvard
Why It Hurts: The Big Green needed one more win to make it to the Ivy League Playoffs.
Oh man, this is a BIG drag. The Big Green entered the weekend needing to win the series at Harvard to advance to play Yale in the Ancient Eight’s best-of-three title series. After winning game one of a doubleheader on Sunday 6-5, their magic number was down to one. But in game two, the Crimson raced past Dartmouth by a breezy 11-3 score. Then, on Monday the unthinkable happened. The Big Green posted season highs in runs and hits and also had a 17-9 lead in the sixth inning. But the Crimson blasted five home runs and rallied in their final at-bat to pull out an unlikely 18-17 win. With the losses, Columbia will advance to take on Yale instead.
