Let’s get right to a bold statement of fact: Gonzaga has been the top program in the WCC over the last decade. For perspective, Gonzaga is also the northernmost baseball program in the WCC. Head coach Mark Machtolf is certainly well respected in the coaching community, but are we sleeping on this consistently excellent program?

Here’s what the numbers say: the Zags have finished first or second in the WCC in six of the last seven seasons and eight of the last 11 seasons. They also have recent NCAA tournament experience, having advanced to regionals in 2016 and 2018. When we[…]
