BEND, Ore. — A pair of nine-inning scrimmages against Gonzaga last weekend provided an opportunity for thousands of hungry Beaver fans in Central Oregon to get a look at a significantly remade roster. Most of the stars from last year’s No. 3 national seed club are either off in pro ball (Cooper Hjerpe, Justin Boyd, Jacob  Melton, Wade Meckler) or out with injuries (Garret Forrester and Ben Ferrer). Forrester, Oregon State’s top returning power threat and first baseman, will be back to full throttle later this month after working his way back from cleanup surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.[…]
