COLUMBIA, S.C. — After finishing with a losing record in an injury-ravaged 2022 campaign, South Carolina bounced back strong in 2023, making its third regional (and second super regional) in five completed seasons under Mark Kingston. For a good chunk of the season, the Gamecocks looked like they might just be the very best team in the country, but they lost some mojo when the injury bug struck again down the stretch. Still, they did enough to host a regional, then cruised through it unbeaten before falling to eventual CWS runner-up Florida in the Gainesville Super Regional.
