Fall ReportCHARLOTTE, N.C. — Robert Woodard wasted no time making a big splash at Charlotte. In his first full season as head coach last spring, Woodard led the 49ers to regionals for the first time in a decade, as well as the 40-win mark and the best league record in Conference USA (24-8). Considering Charlotte went 21-31-1, 11-18-1 (11th place in the 12-team conference) in 2019, the year before Woodard took over the program, it’s downright remarkable that the 49ers were one of 20 candidates for the 16 regional hosting spots in 2021.
