COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Rob Vaughn admits that it took him and his staff a few years to find their footing on the recruiting trail after Vaughn was elevated to replace John Szefc as head coach, and Maryland’s talent level dipped some after its back-to-back super regional runs in 2014-15. But heading into last season, he was feeling optimistic that Maryland was close to being back where it was a half-decade earlier — from a talent standpoint but also from a toughness standpoint.
