Fall WorkoutsUCF head coach Greg Lovelady thought his 2022 team had a chance to make some huge waves on the national stage. Then, the injury bug hit like no other.
UCF had two of the American Athletic Conference’s top arms in Connor Staine and Hunter Patteson. But Patteson made seven starts and finished the season with just 29.2 innings of work, and Staine finished the season with just 43.1 innings of work. The Knights were also without the arm of hard-throwing closer Zack Bennett, who, too, missed the season with an injury.
