The college baseball season is finally here … it’s Opening Day. And that means it’s never too early to take a look into the crystal ball.
Though much obviously will change between now and June, here’s how the Field of 64 would look if everything went the way our staff believes it will.
The most notable thing about our preseason projections is the mass representation from the Southeastern Conference and Atlantic Coast Conference. The SEC has recently gotten 10 teams into the NCAA tournament, so perhaps you won’t be too surprised by that. But how about the ACC with 10 teams as well? And you could make an argument for a team like Boston College. It seems like it’s going to be a strong year for the ACC, so stay tuned.
The Pac-12 and Big 12 are next in the pecking order with five teams a piece, while the Big Ten has four representatives with Nebraska and Iowa worth watching as well. Other multi-bid leagues include the American, Conference USA, Missouri Valley and Sun Belt, each with two bids.
