Arizona has not been to a regional since it won the 2012 national title. Even with All-America middle infielders Kevin Newman and Scott Kingery leading the 2015 team, the Wildcats finished just 12-18 in the Pac-12 and missed the NCAA tournament for the third straight year, after which coach Andy Lopez announced his retirement. Now that Newman and Kingery are gone, what hope is there for the Wildcats to make headway in the Pac-12 and return to regionals in new coach Jay Johnson’s first season?
