Schoch Factor Podcast, Ep. 9: Governor’s Cup and the Hurtin’ Albertan

The Schoch Factor

[powerpress]

Welcome to The Schoch Factor, a podcast featuring former UVA relief pitcher Stephen Schoch and Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman of @CespedesBBQ, brought to you by S2 Cognition. We begin in the great state of Mississippi where Ole Miss and Mississippi State duked it out in an excellent series in Oxford that made us appreciate a lot of players on both teams. Next, we take a broad look at the D-I national home run race currently led by Texas’ Ivan Melendez and Old Dominion’s Matt Coutney (who we gift an excellent new nickname), and who else could reasonably challenge them. We then moved onto the Tackle Heard Round the World because well, we had to talk about it. This week’s Show and Go covered a monster day for a Michigan slugger Joe Stewart, a perfect game for Grambling’s Shemar Page, an electric walk-off for VCU’s Jacob Selden and the fantastic bounce-back for UVA’s multi-sport star Jay Woolfolk, and a wonderfully chaotic postgame celebration from Lehigh over rival Lafayette. Finally, we go beyond D-I to celebrate the most ridiculous offensive season so far in college baseball courtesy of D-III Penn State-Abington’s Ryan McCarty.
