Position Power Rankings: Shortstop
Position Power Rankings
With 10 weeks in the books, we’re about two-thirds of the way through the college baseball regular season, so it’s time to update our Position Power Rankings. For this exercise, we are using the same guiding principle we followed when assembling our preseason All-America teams: If we were building a team to win the 2017 national title, which players would we choose?
Now we have 10 weeks of performance to draw upon, so statistics are taking on more weight in our deliberations, but we also tried to keep the numbers in context, because some leagues or ballparks are more offensive than others, and the quality of nonconference competition varies widely — so all stat lines are not created equal. In addition to the 2017 numbers, we also considered raw talent, long-term track record from previous seasons, defensive ability (especially for premium positions) and makeup.
Here’s our look at the top 25 shortstops in college baseball after 10 weeks.
