Day One At Stanford: Domination

Postseason

STANFORD, Calif. — You might’ve noticed that the Stanford Regional got started a day early. In case you didn’t know, BYU is a Mormon-owned institution and those guys just don’t do the sporting thing on Sunday, due to the religious side of things. So the NCAA allowed this regional to begin a day early, just in case the Cougars made the championship round of the regional. If that happens the regional finals will be pushed to Monday. So there you go.

But if Thursday were any indication, Monday won’t be necessary anyway because Cal State Fullerton beat the bejesus out of the Cougs 13-2 and Stanford crushed Sacramento State 10-zip. So while the BYU and Sacto boys lick their wounds in game one on Friday, the Titans and the Cardinal are on a collision course for Friday night that should be a whiz-bang of a showdown.

“We always like playing Fullerton because they are so tough,” Stanford coach Mark Marquess said. “They are very disciplined and pitch so well we know it will be a good test for us. We look forward to the challenge.”

The winner’s bracket game between these two West Coast behemoths will start at 6pm on Friday night and the winner will get a huge advantage toward clinching this regional weekend.
