OMAHA — For two days in October during the Arkansas fall world series, I sat with Dave Van Horn and pitching coach Matt Hobbs, breaking down the entire roster. Van Horn and Hobbs mentioned 18 different pitchers in those conversations. Will McEntire was not one of them.

This spring, 19 Arkansas pitchers saw action before McEntire finally got a chance to toe the rubber, when he asked for an opportunity in a midweek game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the coaching staff decided to give him a shot.
