Saturday In Coral Gables: Morales Hat Trick Leads Miami Past Canisius

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The first pitch in this regional was delayed by 29 hours and 30 minutes due to rain.

Thanks to more than 1,200 feet of homers by Yohandy Morales, it was worth the wait for the top-seeded Miami Hurricanes, who defeated the fourth-seeded Canisius Golden Griffins, 11-6, on Saturday night.

Morales, Miami’s sophomore third baseman, 2023 first-round-draft prospect and 6-4, 210-pound line-drive machine, became just the fourth player in Canes history to hit three homers in a postseason game.

All three of Morales’ homers went well over the 400-foot sign in center field.
