2017 MLB Draft: Mock Draft 2.0

Premium

The 2017 MLB Draft is just days away and the rumor mill has officially been kicked into high gear. Where will the very best talent in this year’s crop end up? Which big league teams have their sights set on certain players? While we won’t get definitive answers to these questions until June 12th, that hasn’t stopped the rumors from flying around the scouting world.

There are 30 picks officially in the first round of this year’s draft, and this will serve as our most recent attempt at projecting how these selections could go down on June 12th. This draft, like many in recent memory, has been defined by uncertainty after the first few picks. In other words, we could be in for a wild ride of rumors, speculation and rapid changes in prospect stock as the days wind down for teams to finish evaluating all the top talent.

With that in mind, after thorough consultation with our sources in the scouting world, here is our updated projection of how the first 30 selections could unfold in this year’s amateur draft.

1. Minnesota Twins – Kyle Wright, rhp, VanderbiltTWINS90X90

ANALYSIS: When we first put Kyle Wright with the Twins, it seemed like more of a longshot. Now there is a consensus growing that this is the direction they appear to be headed. Price tag will matter, and they’re still considering the likes of Hunter Greene and Brendan McKay as well.
