2023 Stalker Sport Heat Sheet: Week 1

Off and hummin’ — the Division I college baseball season is back, and so are its power arms.

At the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field alone there were 11 hurlers who touched 96 mph or better with Hagen Smith (Arkansas), Ryan Vanderhei (TCU), Sam Horn (Missouri) and Zach Franklin (Missouri) “bringing it” with 97 octane.

The strongest bolt of lightning was spotted in Baton Rouge where Paul Skenes reached back for a 99 on the first pitch of the game, then sat on 97-98 for the duration of his six-inning, 12-strikeout start against Western Michigan. Runners-up went to[…]
