Prospect Rundown: Valley League

Summer Baseball

CARY, N.C. — Prospect all-star teams representing five summer leagues gathered together for the two-day Southeast Collegiate Prospect Showcase last week at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. This year, the Valley League talent stood out the most, but the Cal Ripken League, Florida League, Sunbelt League and Southern Collegiate League had their share of interesting players as well. Here’s a look at some of the players who stood out for the Valley, either as professional prospects or as potential impact players at the collegiate level next spring.

Valley League Hitters 

• The most exciting talent at the showcase was Jackson Tate, an outfielder for Waynesboro who is transferring from Lawson State CC to Alabama. A 32nd-round pick by the Mariners this June, Tate has the tools to become a top-five-rounds pick if he performs in the SEC next spring. …
