Colton Cowser, Sam Houston State, 2021 – Largely unknown, despite coming off a stellar freshman year for the Bearkats with a .361/.450/.602 slash, Cowser was a pleasant surprise to the scouts at the Trials. He has much physical projection remaining to his long, slender 6-foot-3, 185 pound frame and the athleticism to project as a potential Day One prospect for 2021. He played solid defense in both center and right fields, stole a couple bases, hit .333 (4-for-12) and reached base at a .500 clip (8-for-16). There isn’t a ton of power with his present handsy swing, but he will likely grow into it as his swing should work even better with future strength gains.
