Final 2015 D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings

After completing a magical run to its first national championship, Virginia finished the season ranked No. 1 in the final D1Baseball Top 25 rankings. The Cavaliers were unranked in the last Top 25 at the end of the regular season, but they won a West Coast regional as a No. 3 seed, then won a thrilling home super regional against Maryland, then went 5-2 against three Southeastern Conference teams in Omaha. They lost the first game of the best-of-three CWS Finals series against Vanderbilt, then came back to win the next two and avenge last year’s Finals loss to the Commodores.

National runner-up Vanderbilt finished No. 2, and Florida finished No. 3. The Commodores, Gators and Cavaliers were the top three teams in the preseason Top 25, and they finished as the top three teams, albeit in a different order. TCU (No. 4) and LSU (No. 5) round out the final top five; both teams entered the season ranked in the top 10.

Cal State Fullerton jumped 12 spots from the end of the regular season to the final rankings after winning a home regional and toppling Louisville in super regionals. The Titans finish at No. 7, one spot ahead of the Cardinals. Arkansas also made a big jump — 11 spots to No. 9 — after its run to Omaha.

Maryland (No. 15), Louisiana-Lafayette (No. 16) and VCU (No. 19) all joined the final rankings after winning regionals as No. 3 or No. 4 seeds. Four teams fell out of the Top 25: Radford, UC Santa Barbara, Arizona State and East Carolina.

Fifteen members of the final Top 25 were ranked in the preseason Top 25.

D1Baseball editors Aaron Fitt and Kendall Rogers determine the Top 25 rankings. All records are final, through games of June 24.
