Auburn is almost certainly the most well-respected program in SEC coaching circles. 

With a few exceptions in recent years (Casey Mize being the most prominent one), the Tigers never have the most talented players in the conference. Though improvements are underway at Plainsman Park, they don’t play in one of the baseball palaces you can find in other places around the league. And it’s not one of the programs in the SEC that can lean on its tradition and history as a fundraising and recruiting tool. 

And yet, Butch Thompson and his staff just win games.
