Early-season tournaments provide regional dry run
SEC ExtraJACKSONVILLE, Fla. — When you talk to head coaches about why they bring their teams to early-season non-conference tournaments, there are common answers you expect to hear.
The coaches who flock to Globe Life Field in Arlington always make it clear that playing under a roof, and therefore eliminating the risk of weather delays and frigid temperatures, is a major draw. Similarly, with tournaments almost exclusively happening in the South and on the West Coast, weather is a draw for all of the events at this time of year.
