South Carolina in as SEC earns record eight host sites

The NCAA on Sunday announced the 16 host sites for next weekend’s regionals, and the SEC set a record by getting eight of them. 

Going into the SEC Tournament, there were nine SEC teams with very real hosting aspirations. Tennessee lost on the opening day of the event, which knocked the Volunteers from the ranks of the hopefuls. 

That gave the league eight teams vying for spots the rest of the week. The conventional wisdom was that four teams—Arkansas, Florida, LSU and Vanderbilt—were locks to be top-eight seeds in the tournament and that Kentucky and Auburn were in solid shape[…]
