Fitt: After sluggish start, UConn surges into postseason hunt

STORRS, Conn. — In a casual postgame conversation after Connecticut’s 4-0 win against Kansas State on Tuesday night, Huskies pitching coach Josh MacDonald recalled the message the coaching staff had for players a few weeks earlier, on the heels of a series loss to Rutgers that dropped UConn to 8-13 overall. The message went something like this: “If you think the four of us are going to quit, you’re out of your damn mind.”
