Coaches Adjust to New Recruiting Landscape
SEC ExtraJust a short time ago, college baseball coaches poured much of their energy into amateur showcases, trying to get those precious commitments that become signatures, only to hold their collective breaths as the draft and subsequent MLB signings loomed through the summer.
The MLB draft could make or break your season, as incoming freshmen or junior college transfers were the only way to acquire talent.
Prep recruiting is still important, but instead of serving as the sole focus, adding and subtracting through the transfer portal has elevated to near-equal status for many programs.
