The latest D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings saw some major shakeups this week after there was some serious carnage amongst several teams ranked last week. Top-ranked Arkansas is the one constant, allowing just one run in three games in a home series sweep of Missouri this past weekend.
While the Hogs have the top spot, Oregon State jumped one spot to No. 2 following a road series win over an improved Utah club, while Vanderbilt and Clemson each moved up six spots to No’s 3 and 4, respectively, after series wins over Auburn and Duke. Meanwhile, LSU, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Duke each dropped three spots after weekend series losses, while Florida, which won a home series over A&M, jumped two spots from No. 8 to No. 6. East Carolina rounds out the tumultuous Top 10.
Alabama (11) and Virginia (14) each gained ground in the teens after strong weekends, while three of the four new entrants entered this week’s rankings in the teens – No. 12 Florida State, No. 17 Oklahoma, and No. 19 Virginia Tech.
FSU’s ascension from unranked to No. 12 is the highest entry point in the history of the D1Baseball rankings after beating rival Florida and sweeping Notre Dame to remain unbeaten at 18-0. Oklahoma, which is 6-0 in the Big 12 and has another weekend win over Tennessee, entered at No. 17, and Virginia Tech, which has a high-flying offense, entered at No. 19 after a road series win over Louisville. The other entrant, No. 21 Mississippi State, won yet another series, taking two of three this past weekend and run-ruling LSU in the series finale.
NC State, South Carolina, Texas, and Texas Tech dropped out of this week’s rankings.
