At The BallparkCORAL GABLES, Fla. – Jack Scanlon is an unlikely hero.
The Miami Hurricanes backup catcher didn’t get a hit or walk on Sunday afternoon.
He didn’t provide a web gem.
Didn’t even reach base.
Yet, CJ Kayfus – who slugged a two-out, two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to stun visiting Penn State, 3-2 — credited Scanlon.
Here’s why: Kayfus was clearly frustrated earlier Sunday after his 106-mph line drive in the fifth inning was turned into a double play by Penn State second baseman Kyle Hannon.
