New-Look LMU Opens WCC Play Impressively

LOS ANGELES — The 2022 season didn’t start the way the LMU Lions wanted it to, crawling out to a 3-12-1 mark. But head coach Nathan Choate couldn’t have asked for a better start to West Coast Conference play. Looking much different than the team I saw lose a series to Creighton, the Lions roared back from an early deficit to take down the St. Mary’s Gaels 5-2 on Friday night in SmogTown.  They got a great effort on the mound from starter Diego Barrera, who went seven innings and gave up just three hits and two runs.
