StoriesLOS ANGELES — Thirty minutes prior Jack Filby had been warming up in the UCLA bullpen in case Oregon State broke the game open in the eighth inning and head coach John Savage wanted to save some of his more frequently used relievers. Fifteen minutes later the two-way player, donning a helmet instead of a mitt, was standing on second base screaming in celebration after tying the game with a bases-clearing pinch hit double in the bottom of the ninth inning. Now, Filby was sprinting to the plate to celebrate the Bruins’ 6-5 walk-off win in the 10th inning.
