It was a trying summer for the Orleans Firebirds, who went 15-25 to finish fourth in the East Division — but Orleans hung tough after a 5-15 start, going 10-10 the rest of the way to make the playoffs. There were plenty of individual bright spots, highlighted by righthander Itsuki Takemoto (Hawaii) winning the league’s Whitehouse Outstanding Pitcher Award. Itsuki led a contingent of six Firebirds who made the all-star game, as he was joined by fellow righties Callan Fang and Cody Bowker plus infielders Hudson Shupe and Jack Gurevitch and outfielder Ben Zeigler-Namoa.
